Learning how to ask thoughtful, open ended questions is a skill.  As dental professionals, we know how to interact with our patients even when they have sharp instruments in their mouths.  We’ve learned to pickup on their body language while they’re in our chair.  We have worked to build up this skill and artful form of communication.

What is different about the conversations outside of the office is that we are in a more vulnerable position and are seeking to not just lead a dental appointment, but are looking for deep and meaningful conversations where there is an exchange of information and vulnerability.

When we learn to ask thoughtful, open ended questions in a social setting, it creates more trust in our relationships.  We are seen as empathetic and understanding. Being curious and showing an ability to listen and learn, sets us apart as an engaging creating true connection.

Taking time to get to know people will increase the depth and quality of your relationships.
